Afifa App is a culturally sensitive health app designed specifically for Muslim women, addressing the unique challenges they face by aligning its features and content with their religious principles and obligations, while offering enhanced privacy.
Afifa App is developed and managed by Afifa App inc., a Canadian startup based in Montreal, Quebec.

Support Muslim women in achieving holistic well-being by offering comprehensive health tools, religious guidance, and supportive education, helping them confidently balance health and faith.
Problems we want to address
Muslim women face unique challenges in accessing health and wellness resources that align with their spiritual and cultural needs. Afifa is designed to address these gaps:
Limited Access to Culturally Aligned Health Information:
Muslim women often lack access to menstrual and sexual health education that aligns with their religion, culture and values. This creates poor health outcomes, increased anxiety, and feelings of isolation, particularly in communities where these topics remain taboo.
Difficulty Balancing Health Management and Religious Practices:
Navigating interrelated health needs and religious obligations, like pausing and resuming prayer or fasting during menstruation, is challenging without proper guidance. Many Muslim women have limited knowledge about these important aspects of their religion. This can lead to frustration and hinder spiritual fulfillment.
Privacy Concerns with Existing Apps:
Many health apps request detailed personal and health information, while some apps have been suspected of poor management of this privacy. This raises serious privacy concerns for Muslim women.
Who is behind Afifa?
At Afifa, we are proud to be a team of passionate and talented individuals, united by a shared vision to help Muslim women manage their health while honoring their faith. Our diverse team includes engineers, designers, and marketers all of whom bring unique expertise to the table. We are committed to creating innovative solutions that cater to the unique needs of Muslim women.
We also collaborate with Muslim Scholars for Fiqh related content, as well as health professionals for health related insights.
Afifa is also part of the Balsam District 3 Startup Incubator. This innovative hub provides us with the resources and support to bring Afifa’s vision to life, helping us connect with like-minded professionals and grow in meaningful ways.
Meet Yousra, Our CEO and Founder
Afifa is led by Yousra, a mother, a wife, a software developer and cybersecurity professional with a strong foundation in both technology and Islamic values. Yousra studied her Bachelor in Software Engineering at Concordia University and her Masters in Cybersecurity at Polytechnique Montreal. She is working as a software developer and cybersecurity expert with a leading global software company. Yousra is also dedicated to deepening her knowledge related to Islam and Fiqh, notably through her involvement with Zad Academy for Islamic Studies, where she is currently completing her second year of study. Her dedication to combining her professional skills with her commitment to the Muslim community is what drives Afifa’s mission.
